Reynerio Tamayo

Niquero, Granma, Cuba, 1968

He completed primary and secondary studies at the Elementary School of Art, Isla de la Juventud, Cuba from 1980-1983. Later he studied at the National School of Plastic Arts (ENA), Havana, until 1987 when he went to the Higher Institute of Art (ISA), Havana, finishing his higher studies in 1992. The artist’s career has been marked by the relationship between canvases and the ball, with paintings ranging from “painting to illustration, from humor to design, assisted by his solid academic background.

His work has been exhibited in Europe, the United States and the Caribbean. He has designed posters for movies, exhibitions and events, as well as covers of musical records. He has made illustrations for the magazines Albur, UNION and La Gaceta de Cuba and for the “Post-war Memory” publication, edited by Tania Bruguera. His works are included in several collections such as: Van Reekum Museum, Apeldoorn, Holland, Museum of Humor, San Antonio de los Baños, Havana, Cuba, House of Humor and Satire, Gabrovo, Bulgaria, La Merced-Caja Cultural Foundation , La Rioja, Spain, Carlos Weil Collection, Panama, Félix Daza Collection, Spain, Enrico Garzaroli Collection, Italy.
